Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has assured that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ongoing reforms, though perceived as tough, will ultimately yield positive results for all Nigerians. She emphasized that the welfare of Nigerians remains the President’s top priority.

Dabiri-Erewa made these remarks during a series of high-level meetings in London. She met with Kate Airey, the UK Head of the West Africa Department, and Florence Eshalomi, a Member of the UK Parliament and newly appointed UK Trade Envoy to Nigeria. Additionally, she addressed stakeholders at the Nigerian Diaspora Direct Investment Summit (NDDIS).

During the meeting at the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Ambassador Airey underscored the significance of the UK-based Nigerian diaspora and the need to deepen engagement between both countries. She expressed her willingness to collaborate with NIDCOM within the commission’s mandate to drive national development. Airey also commended the contributions of Nigerians in the UK, recognizing their achievements and positive impact in both countries.

Similarly, Eshalomi highlighted the importance of strengthening trade ties between Nigeria and the UK.

“I am delighted to be appointed as the UK’s Trade Envoy to Nigeria,” Eshalomi said. “I look forward to building on the UK’s relationship with Nigeria, fostering shared growth and exploring new opportunities for both nations.”

At the Nigerian Diaspora Direct Investment Summit (NDDIS), Dabiri-Erewa urged Nigerians in the diaspora to continue projecting the country positively and attracting investments, describing them as Nigeria’s foremost ambassadors. She commended Chief Bimbo Afolayan, convener of the summit, for his commitment to promoting trade and investment in Nigeria and encouraged others to follow his example.

She also reminded the diaspora community of the upcoming Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS), scheduled for November 11-13 2025 in Abuja, urging them to support and encourage investments back home.
