President Bola Tinubu is set to depart Abuja on Wednesday for a three-day state visit to France at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. This was disclosed in a statement on Tuesday by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, titled, “President Tinubu Honours Invitation for a State Visit to France.”
The visit aims to bolster political, economic, and cultural ties between Nigeria and France while creating opportunities for collaboration in areas such as agriculture, security, education, health, youth engagement, employment, innovation, and energy transition.
On Thursday, President Tinubu and his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, will be formally welcomed at Les Invalides, a historic French military museum, and at the Élysée Palace by President Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron. The ceremonies will pave the way for bilateral discussions.
During the visit, both leaders will focus on enhancing youth skill development programs, particularly in automation, entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership. They will also hold political and diplomatic meetings addressing shared priorities in finance, solid minerals, trade, investment, and communications.
The trip will include a session with the France-Nigeria Business Council to foster private sector contributions to economic growth. Meanwhile, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu and Brigitte Macron will discuss initiatives to empower women, children, and vulnerable populations through the Renewed Hope Initiative.
President Tinubu and his wife will also attend a state dinner hosted by President Macron before departing France. According to the Presidency, the Nigerian delegation will include top government officials.
