Tinubu Administration Advances Infrastructure with Calabar-Abuja Superhighway Agreement

The Nigerian government has taken a significant step toward bolstering infrastructure by formalizing the construction of the Calabar-Abuja Superhighway. The agreement, signed yesterday between Infiouest International Limited and the Ministry of Works, underscores the administration's commitment to developing critical road networks.

The new superhighway, a key component of the administration's "Renewed Hope" agenda, will span multiple states and link the nation's southeastern and central regions. Section I of the highway, beginning from the Enugu-Abakaliki-Ogoja Highway (part of the Africa Trans-Sahara route), will traverse Cross River, Benue, Kogi, and Nasarawa states, culminating in Apo, Abuja.

The first phase of the 118.85-kilometer project will involve reconstructing existing roads, incorporating jointed asphalt concrete and laterite pavements for durability and efficiency.

This development aligns with other major infrastructural initiatives, including the ongoing Sokoto-Badagry and Lagos-Calabar highway projects. Additionally, plans for the Lagos-Abuja Superhighway are reportedly in the pipeline, further demonstrating the administration's focus on revitalizing Nigeria's road networks.

Stakeholders and citizens have expressed optimism, viewing the Calabar-Abuja Superhighway as a catalyst for economic growth and regional integration.
