US-based media platform, Afrocentrik TV and Magazine, recently honoured 30 outstanding African tech professionals at the 2025 Afrocentrik Awards for Excellence in Diaspora, celebrating their contributions to innovation and leadership within the global ICT space.
Held at the GSH Event Centre in West Belfort, Houston, the event spotlighted distinguished individuals from across North America, particularly those shaping the future of technology and business in the African diaspora community.
Among the honorees was Sunday Oladosu, a Nigerian-born cybersecurity expert and Senior Network Engineer at Infosys Inc., recognized for his visionary leadership, technical excellence, and commitment to IT mentorship. Originally from Oyo State, Oladosu has built a career spanning over two decades in network engineering, cybersecurity, and ICT both in Nigeria and the United States.

Presenting the award, Afrocentrik TV/Magazine Vice President Kolawole Akinmuyiwa reaffirmed the organization’s mission to amplify Black excellence and counter mainstream narratives that often overlook the African community’s contributions.
“This award celebrates the outstanding impact of Africans in the United States, particularly within the tech ecosystem. It's time we told our own stories, from our own lens,” Akinmuyiwa said.
Oladosu’s citation praised his achievements in delivering secure, scalable cybersecurity solutions across sectors, as well as his advocacy for youth development through partnerships with universities and training institutions. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and is especially noted for his work in securing cloud-based infrastructures, multi-cloud environments, and enterprise VPNs.
One of his recent milestones includes leading a team of consultants that successfully overhauled the IT network infrastructure of Houston Methodist Hospital, transitioning it to a more efficient system designed to minimize downtime and enhance service delivery for the next decade.
Reacting to the award, Oladosu said, “I’m deeply humbled by this recognition. It’s one thing to be nominated, but standing here as an awardee is a great honour. This acknowledgment inspires me to keep pushing boundaries and continue giving back to the next generation.”
The Afrocentrik Awards for Excellence in Diaspora continues to serve as a platform to celebrate African talents making waves across industries globally, with the 2025 edition reinforcing the critical role of tech leaders in shaping a more secure, innovative, and inclusive digital future.
