Sanwo-Olu Vows to Consolidate Lagos Gains with Major Projects in 2026

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has pledged to consolidate the achievements of his administration over the past six and a half years by completing and commissioning transformative projects across the State. He emphasized that the 2026 initiatives will be driven by the THEMES+ vision and supported by the proposed N4 trillion “Budget of Shared Prosperity.”

Speaking at the 2026 Lagos Annual Thanksgiving Service at Tafawa Balewa Square, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the event as a platform to express gratitude for divine guidance and protection over Lagos and its residents. The occasion was organized by the First Family in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The Governor outlined that the budget will focus on four main pillars: human-centred development, modern infrastructure, a thriving economy, and effective governance. “This budget will deliver a Lagos that is cleaner, safer, prosperous, resilient, and inclusive,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu listed key projects scheduled for completion, including Ojo General Hospital, Massey Children’s Hospital, the Odo Iya-Alaro Link Bridge, the Central Food Security Hub in Epe, and the new Psychiatric Hospital in Ketu Ereyun, Epe. He also highlighted multi-storey office complexes and water schemes designed to improve service delivery across the State.

The Governor provided details on planned road and transport projects, such as the Igbogbo–Bola Ahmed Tinubu–Igbe Road, the Agric Isawo–Konu–Arepo Road, Opebi–Mende Link Bridge, and major expressway expansions in Eti-Osa, Lekki, and Alimosho. These initiatives are intended to ease mobility, boost commerce, and support urban development.

Acknowledging contributions to the State’s growth, Sanwo-Olu commended President Bola Tinubu, the First Lady, and religious leaders for their consistent support and intercession. He also reaffirmed his commitment to making 2026 a landmark year, noting it is his last full year as Governor and an opportunity to deliver lasting impact for Lagosians.

The event featured prayers, hymns, and readings led by the First Lady, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, and prominent clergy. Attendees included the Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, current and former public officials, and traditional and political leaders.

Governor Sanwo-Olu concluded by urging Lagosians to embrace the opportunities of the year and participate in the transformation of their communities, emphasizing that every project and policy is aimed at enhancing the welfare and prosperity of the State.
