RMAFC Urge Nigerians To Pay Tax

According to RMAFC, tax compliance would help national development

Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Alhaji Muhammed Shehu, has called upon Nigerians to ensure tax compliance to enhance revenue generation in the country.

Shehu emphasized the importance of timely tax remittances by both Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) and private businesses to avoid penalties. He highlighted that tax revenues would be used to improve services and infrastructure nationwide, benefitting all citizens.

Shehu also stressed the need to expand Nigeria's tax base, as currently, fewer than 40 million Nigerians pay taxes, which is low given the country's high population. He noted that the government aims to increase revenue by addressing revenue leakages.

Additionally, Shehu recognized Nigeria's 63rd Independence Day Anniversary as a significant milestone, encouraging Nigerians to reflect on the nation's progress and challenges since gaining independence in 1960, emphasizing unity, peace, and progress as key principles for the nation's future.
