A Nigerian national, Uchechukwu Chima, has been arrested in Oyarifa, a suburb of Accra, Ghana, during a raid conducted by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC). The 56-year-old suspect was apprehended following an intelligence-led operation by the agency.
According to a statement issued by Francis Opoku Amoah, Acting Director of Public Affairs and International Relations at Ghana’s Ministry of the Interior, a search of Chima’s hideout led to the discovery of substances suspected to be narcotics. Field tests confirmed the substances as cocaine and heroin.
Authorities reported that the seized drugs—approximately 192 kilograms of cocaine and 0.42 kilograms of heroin—have an estimated street value of $2.1 million (approximately N3.2 billion).

Chima, who has reportedly been on NACOC’s radar for some time, is believed to be linked to previous drug-related arrests and seizures in the country
NACOC emphasized that the arrest represents a significant breakthrough in its fight against drug trafficking. "This operation has removed a substantial quantity of dangerous drugs from circulation, potentially saving countless lives," the commission stated.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to making Ghana an unsafe route and destination for illicit drug trade, ensuring the safety of its citizens and the international community
