Renowned Nigeria-born journalist, Richard Edoki, popularly known as Richybongo, has earned a nomination in the Best Newcomer category at the 2025 National Hospital Radio Awards in the United Kingdom.
The awards, organized annually by the Hospital Broadcasting Association (HBA), celebrate outstanding contributions to hospital broadcasting across the UK.
Richybongo, in a statement released on Saturday, expressed his excitement about the nomination and highlighted the role of his radio show, African Vibe with Richybongo, broadcast on the Community Hospital Broadcasting Network (CHBN) in Cornwall, England.
The Sunday evening program showcases the rich cultural diversity of Africa while fostering connections with Cornish audiences. Through music, food, fashion, and language, Richybongo’s show has become a cultural bridge, creating a sense of inclusivity and belonging.
“Our mission has been to share Africa’s vibrant heritage with Cornish audiences while offering a sense of home for Africans in Cornwall,” Edoki stated.
The 2025 National Hospital Radio Awards ceremony is set to take place on April 5, where Edoki’s groundbreaking contributions to hospital radio and cultural integration will be celebrated.
