Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, a renowned Nigerian economist, currently serves as the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB). Before his appointment as AfDB President in 2015, he held the position of Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and was Vice President of Policy and Partnerships at the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA). He was re-elected for a second term as President of AfDB in 2020, becoming the first Nigerian to hold the role.
