My ambition is to support President Tinubu to succeed – Gov. Bello

Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, during an interactive session, stated that his current focus is to support President Bola Tinubu's success. He emphasized that if President Tinubu succeeds, it would be a success for all Nigerians. Additionally, Gov. Bello expressed gratitude for his achievements as governor and expressed confidence in the APC candidate, Usman Ododo, to build upon the foundation laid in Kogi.

Gov. Yahaya Bello believes that the APC will achieve a resounding victory in the November Kogi governorship election. He emphasized the unity within the party in Kogi, stating that their unity is the key to their success. Gov. Bello acknowledged that it may not be possible to please everyone, but highlighted the internal mechanisms within the APC to address any issues that arise.

Earlier in a paper titled: “Unity in Multi-Ethnic, Multi-Religious Society, the Kogi Story” the  state’s Commissioner for Information, Mr Kingsley Fanwo, said any candidate campaigning on the basis of ethnic sentiments, is incompetent.

Fanwo emphasized that the state will maintain its focus on merit rather than ethnicity to foster continued growth. Additionally, in his paper on "Off Season Elections, Journalists as Responsible Watchdogs," Mr. Chris Isiguzo, the President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), urged journalists to practice responsible and ethical journalism by ensuring transparency, fact-checking, and verifying information in their reporting.

The NUJ president highlighted that off-season elections offer both challenges and opportunities for journalists to fulfill their role as responsible watchdogs. He encouraged journalists to approach their job with a sense of duty, recognizing the impact their reporting can have on the nation's future.

Additionally, in his presentation on "Debt Burden, Transparency and Accountability in Governance: Kogi's Success Story," Commissioner Asiru Idris explained that the Yahaya Bello administration has implemented deliberate policies to promote good governance through accountability, transparency, and reducing the state's debt burden. Kogi is also developing a 32-year development plan to drive comprehensive development and attract interventions from development partners.
