Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi on Thursday held a strategic engagement with members of the Kenyan diaspora in Brazil, reaffirming the government’s commitment to deepening diaspora relations and leveraging their contributions to national development.
The interactive session brought together Kenyans living in Brazil—the world’s fifth-largest country—who shared their experiences of studying, working, and integrating into Brazilian society. The event served as a platform to exchange ideas and highlight both opportunities and challenges facing Kenyans abroad.
Mudavadi underscored the government’s efforts to strengthen its relationship with the diaspora, describing them as an essential extension of Kenya’s global presence and a key pillar in the country’s economic transformation.

“I had a fulfilling engagement with the vibrant Kenyan diaspora in Brazil, who shared valuable insights on their experiences abroad,” he said. “I assured them of Kenya’s continued stability, grounded in strong institutions and good governance.”
He further emphasized Kenya's commitment to fostering a supportive environment for diaspora-led investments, highlighting the proposed Diaspora Infrastructure Bond as a major opportunity for Kenyans abroad to contribute directly to the country’s development while reaping financial returns.
During the engagement, Mudavadi met with Beatrice Chelimo, Chair of the Kenyan diaspora community in Brazil, to discuss community coordination, policy input, and ways to amplify the diaspora’s voice in national affairs.
He was accompanied by Andrew Karanja, Kenya’s newly appointed Ambassador to Brazil, who pledged to prioritize responsive consular services and enhance Kenya–Brazil bilateral ties.
The session is part of a broader diaspora engagement strategy aimed at empowering Kenyan communities abroad, improving policy alignment, and ensuring their inclusion in Kenya’s socio-economic agenda.
