MC Oluomo Appointed Acting Chairman of NURTW South West

MC Oluomo, popularly known as Musiliu Akinsanya, has been appointed as the acting chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the South West region.

This decision was reached during the quadrennial Congress held in Osogbo, where Nasiru Komolafe, the former NURTW National Treasurer, presided over the proceedings. MC Oluomo, who currently serves as the Deputy Chairman of the zone, will assume the role of acting chairman until a substantive chairman is elected.

Furthermore, the congress delegates appealed to the governments of Ondo, Oyo, and Osun States to permit the NURTW to resume its operations in motor parks within their respective states.

The congress also faced challenges in conducting a zonal election due to the union's limited presence in only two out of six states in Zone 2, South West.

As a result, the zonal congress was postponed to October 19, 2023, with concerns that failing to hold the election might risk losing the post of NURTW National President, which has been zoned to the South West.

The appeal was made to encourage the remaining South West state governments to allow the NURTW to operate in their states and prevent the loss of this important position.
