The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has strengthened its drive toward sustainable waste management through strategic collaborations with Lafarge Africa and Zoomlion Nigeria, aimed at building a safer and more organised recycling ecosystem.

The partnerships form part of ongoing efforts to modernise waste handling processes across the State by shifting from informal landfill scavenging to structured recovery, recycling, and reuse systems.
Key components of the initiative include waste sorting at source, the establishment of modern Material Recovery Facilities, and the deployment of structured recyclable collection models across communities.
According to LAWMA, the collaborations will enhance environmental safety, improve working conditions within the waste value chain, and unlock economic opportunities through resource recovery.

The initiative aligns with Lagos State’s broader vision of a circular economy, where waste is converted into value, communities are kept clean, and environmental sustainability supports long-term economic growth.
