Lagos State Commissions Key Road Projects in Amuwo Odofin

The Lagos State government has commissioned four newly completed road projects in Oriade Town, Amuwo Odofin, aimed at improving transportation and easing traffic congestion in the area.

Among the roads inaugurated was the reconstructed Old Ojo Road, which now provides commuters with a faster alternative along the Lagos-Badagry corridor. The road was divided into two phases, with the first phase covering four kilometres from Irede Road to Oluti Bus Stop. The second phase, spanning 7.65 kilometres from Irede to Maza Maza, is expected to be completed in the coming quarter.

Additionally, the rehabilitated and upgraded Mumuni Adio (formerly Buba Marwa) Road, Irede Road, and Navy Town Road were also commissioned. Notably, Irede Road has been expanded and dualised to improve access to the Lagos-Badagry Expressway at the Trade Fair Bus Stop and to facilitate transportation to Irede Jetty, which serves several riverine communities such as Ibasa, Ibeshe, Ilashe, and Imoore.

The road upgrades feature Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP), which will provide a durable and resilient surface, reducing maintenance costs and ensuring long-lasting infrastructure. This development is expected to boost access to vital areas, including the Ijegun Egba area, tank farms, and industrial establishments.

The commissioning ceremony underscores the government’s commitment to improving transport infrastructure and managing traffic efficiently in Lagos. The government also plans to launch more road projects in areas such as Alimosho and Eti Osa in the near future.

In a call to residents and commuters, the state government urged all users to protect the new infrastructures and adhere to a zero-tolerance policy for vandalism and abuse, ensuring these roads serve the community for many years.
