The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion on the Dorman-Long Bridge to install truck barriers. This diversion will take place on Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 10 pm to 7 am.
This measure is part of the government's efforts to prevent accidents involving articulated vehicles on the state's bridges.
The announcement was made in a public statement issued by the Lagos State Government on Friday, October 5, 2023, and can be found on its official social media account (formerly Twitter).
During the diversion, motorists are advised to use alternative routes:
1. Motorists traveling from Western Avenue inbound to Ikorodu Road should divert to Empire Road/Jibowu to continue their journeys.
2. Alternatively, motorists from Western Avenue can use Agege Motor Road to reach Mushin and proceed to their destinations.
The closure of the bridge during nighttime is part of the traffic management strategy to reduce accidents and protect lives. The government also warns that drivers who damage the truck barriers will face legal consequences.
