Governor Sanwo-Olu Reaffirms Commitment to Women’s Empowerment on IWD Celebration

The 2025 International Women’s Day celebration at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena was marked by a strong commitment from the Lagos State Government to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu reassured women that his administration remains dedicated to fostering inclusiveness and implementing policies that ensure they are seen and heard.

With this year’s theme, “Accelerate Action,” the Governor emphasized the need to move beyond rhetoric and take decisive steps to break down barriers that hinder women’s progress. He highlighted ongoing initiatives designed to promote self-sufficiency, leadership, and economic participation among women in Lagos.

“In Lagos State, we don’t just talk about gender equality; we actively implement policies that empower women across all sectors,” he stated. He called on men to join the movement, stressing that true and lasting change requires collective effort.

The administration’s THEMES+ agenda aligns with this commitment, ensuring that inclusiveness remains at the core of Lagos State’s development strategy. With continued investment in women-centered initiatives, the state government aims to create a more equitable and progressive society.

As the event concluded, the Governor reaffirmed that his administration will sustain its drive for gender equality, urging all stakeholders to take deliberate actions that support women’s advancement in all aspects of society
