The Jigawa State Government has officially reported ten fatalities resulting from diphtheria within the state.
Dr. Salisu Mu’azu, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, confirmed this development during an interview with journalists on Friday.
He revealed that the state has documented a total of 91 cases of diphtheria across 14 local government areas within Jigawa State.
Dr. Mu’azu stated, "Ten individuals suspected of having diphtheria have sadly passed away in Jigawa State."
Additionally, he confirmed that two more samples, originating from Kazure and Jahun, have been sent to Abuja for thorough testing.
Dr. Mu’azu emphasized that the state government is actively preparing to administer vaccines and is implementing measures to contain the spread of the disease, especially from neighboring states.
