A diaspora-based support group within the All Progressives Congress has called on President Bola Tinubu and the party’s national leadership to step in over a growing leadership crisis in Edo State.

In a letter dated April 21, 2026, the group expressed concern that escalating internal tensions could weaken party unity and affect its chances in the 2027 elections. The appeal was directed to key party organs, including the National Working Committee and Board of Trustees.

The group criticised comments attributed to Edo APC Chairman, Jarret Tenebe, describing them as divisive and damaging to party cohesion. It argued that such remarks undermine respect among party stakeholders and risk deepening existing fractures.

Particular concern was raised over statements believed to target former governorship candidate Osagie Ize-Iyamu, which the group said were inappropriate and unwarranted. It insisted that internal disagreements should be handled with restraint and maturity.

The group also accused the chairman of a pattern of controversial conduct, citing alleged remarks directed at senior figures such as Adams Oshiomhole and Abubakar Momoh.

Highlighting broader concerns, the group alleged imposition of candidates across local government areas and a leadership style it described as exclusionary. It warned that continued discord could erode trust within the party ahead of future elections.

As part of its demands, the group called for the chairman’s suspension pending an investigation, insisting that urgent steps are needed to restore unity and discipline within the Edo chapter.

Responding to the claims, Tenebe dismissed the group as lacking credibility and denied targeting any individual in his public remarks. He maintained that his comments had been misinterpreted and insisted that no specific party member was singled out.
