In a bid to strengthen global engagement and expand its professional network, the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) is seeking closer collaboration with Nigerian insurance professionals residing in the United Kingdom.

This move was announced during a virtual forum hosted by the Institute, marking the first major international engagement since Yetunde Ilori assumed office as CIIN’s 52nd President. Ilori emphasized the importance of integrating diaspora professionals into the future of Nigeria’s insurance ecosystem, stressing their potential contributions to industry growth and innovation.
She introduced her administration’s strategic focus, branded the “EPIC” agenda an initiative centered around Education, Professionalism, Institutional Recognition, and Capacity Building. One key highlight is the launch of a user-friendly e-learning platform designed to support continuous professional development for members at home and abroad.

Speaking during the session, CIIN Registrar Abimbola Tiamiyu echoed the call for deeper diaspora involvement, assuring members that the Institute is fully committed to supporting their career advancement and industry relevance, regardless of location.
Participants in the UK, including professionals like Olugbenga Fijimi and Mobolaji Davies, expressed enthusiasm about contributing more directly to the Nigerian market. While Fijimi commended CIIN’s progress in recent years, Davies proposed the creation of a knowledge-sharing platform that would allow Nigerian practitioners to benefit from UK market insights.
To cap the session, Ilori revealed plans to relocate CIIN’s Secretariat to a more prominent location in Victoria Island, Lagos, and appealed to members for support in bringing the project to life. She also confirmed that CIIN’s UK Chapter would be formally launched once administrative processes are completed.
This engagement is part of CIIN’s broader mission to foster inclusive growth and professional excellence across borders, reinforcing its commitment to uniting insurance stakeholders globally.
