
Governor Bala Mohammed has declared the state ready to welcome investors, emphasizing the government's commitment to creating an enabling environment for business growth. Speaking at the third zonal sensitisation and advocacy workshop on diaspora investment, organized by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), the Governor underscored the immense opportunities for investment in the region.
Represented by Hajia Amina Muhammad Katagum, Commissioner for Budget, Economic Planning, and Multilateral Coordination, Governor Mohammed praised NIDCOM for fostering collaboration between Nigerians at home and abroad. He highlighted the diaspora’s potential to transform Nigeria’s economy through knowledge, skills, and investments.
“The Northeast must reduce reliance on federal allocations by tapping into diaspora opportunities,” the Governor said. He urged regional leaders to prioritize revenue generation by leveraging resources and creating an attractive business climate.

He urged the northeastern government to leverage this golden opportunity of the workshop to learn the how, when, where and what can attract the diaspora of the individual states.
NIDCOM Chairperson Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, represented by the Commission's Secretary, Engr. Dr. Sule Yakubu Bassi, spotlighted the Northeast’s vast resources, including minerals, agriculture, and human capital, as ripe for investment. Dr. Esther Ahmed, Special Adviser on Diaspora and Multilateral Affairs, also called for stronger collaboration to foster diaspora engagement and attract investments to the region.
The workshop brought together key stakeholders, including Commissioner for Works Engr. Titus Kukah, diaspora officers from Gombe and Yobe States, members of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, and representatives from the private sector.
This event marked the third in NIDCOM’s series of sensitisation workshops, following similar programs in Lagos (Southwest) and Enugu (Southeast), aimed at promoting diaspora investment opportunities across Nigeria.
