The Anambra State Government has introduced the Homeland Consciousness Initiative, aimed at encouraging Anambra indigenes in the Diaspora, especially those in Lagos State to invest in their home state.
Speaking at a press briefing, the state’s Liaison Officer in Lagos, Leo Chiegboka, announced that the initiative, championed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, will officially launch on Sunday, March 2, 2025.
The initiative seeks to foster a shift in mindset, urging Ndi Anambra to consider Anambra as a viable investment destination while maintaining their existing business interests elsewhere.
“There seems to be a notable anomaly in our nature and business operations, which we need to examine for reorientation, enhanced image, and greater benefits. Ndigbo have been stereotyped as a people who develop other people’s homelands at the expense of their own,” Chiegboka stated.

He emphasized the need to balance external business ventures with local investments to drive economic growth, reduce poverty, and create prosperity within Anambra communities.
The Homeland Consciousness Initiative will focus on:
Economic empowerment
Investment opportunities
Infrastructure development
The role of Ndi Anambra in shaping the state’s future
According to Chiegboka, strategic dialogue and collaboration will be essential for the initiative’s success.
“Anambra’s homeland is not just a place it is our heritage, pride, and the foundation for a prosperous future. We must come together to build it,” he added.
The initiative aligns with Governor Soludo’s broader vision for economic transformation, leveraging the expertise and financial strength of Ndi Anambra in the Diaspora to unlock new opportunities for growth and development.
