Airtel Nigeria, a leading telecommunications and service provider, has forged a transformative partnership with Mobihealth International, a trailblazer in telehealth services, to enhance healthcare access for millions of Nigerians. The agreement was signed at Airtel Nigeria's headquarters in Lagos, marking a significant milestone in addressing healthcare challenges in the country.
The collaboration will leverage Airtel’s expansive network to provide Nigerians—particularly those in underserved and remote areas—affordable, round-the-clock access to Mobihealth’s innovative telemedicine platform. This service allows users to consult licensed healthcare professionals, obtain prescriptions, and access genuine medications through their mobile phones.
Mobihealth’s platform offers a comprehensive range of services, including 24/7 teleconsultations, prescription delivery, and access to both local and international medical specialists. By integrating with Airtel’s technology, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between Nigeria’s healthcare demand and the limitations posed by inadequate medical facilities and personnel shortages.
“Airtel is committed to using technology to improve lives,” said Femi Oshinlaja, Chief Commercial Officer of Airtel Nigeria. “Telemedicine is the future of healthcare, and this partnership with Mobihealth underscores our dedication to providing innovative solutions for Nigerians.”
Dr. Funmi Adewara, Founder and CEO of Mobihealth, highlighted the partnership’s potential impact. “This is a milestone in our mission to democratize healthcare across Africa. With Airtel’s reach and Mobihealth’s technology, we will eliminate barriers to timely, affordable, and quality healthcare for millions, especially the most vulnerable.
Nigeria faces significant healthcare challenges, including limited access to doctors, high treatment costs, and a lack of infrastructure. This partnership aligns with the government’s goal of improving healthcare accessibility and affordability. Airtel’s network will allow Mobihealth to extend its services to rural communities, ensuring inclusivity in the delivery of healthcare.
Present at the signing ceremony were key leaders from both organizations, including Airtel Nigeria's Director of Marketing, Ismail Adeshina; Chief Operating Officer of Mobihealth, Kelechi Haidome; and Director of Corporate Communications and CSR at Airtel Nigeria, Femi Adeniran.
This collaboration is expected to revolutionize healthcare delivery across Nigeria, creating a future where quality medical care is accessible to all, regardless of location or income.
