Afrobeats Star Ewol Samo Launches Foundation in Honour of Late Brother

Nigerian-American Afrobeats artist, Ewol Samo, has launched The Oladayo Shola Apata Foundation (OSA Foundation) in memory of his late brother, Oladayo Shola Apata, who passed away from cancer two years ago.



According to Samo, the foundation will serve as the central platform for his philanthropic and community outreach initiatives, with a focus on supporting orphans, homeless children, and underserved communities.

“Since my brother passed from bladder cancer two years ago, it has always been my plan to start a nonprofit organization in his memory so his legacy will not be forgotten,” he said.


Speaking about the personal impact of his brother’s death, Samo described him as a major source of support and inspiration. “My brother was a big influence in my life, and his death left me depressed and directionless for a while. He was one of those who supported me through thick and thin.”


The music star also revealed that he will personally contribute 40% of the foundation’s funding, while calling on friends and associates to support the remaining 60%

Born Samuel Apata on April 8, 1992, in Ibadan, Nigeria, and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Ewol Samo has carved a niche in the global music scene as a Drill and Afrobeats recording artist. His music reflects a blend of resilience, transformation, and cultural identity.

With the launch of the OSA Foundation, Ewol Samo is transforming personal grief into a force for good and also preserving his brother’s legacy through impactful community service , it's also a Commendable initiative to give back to the Nation as a Member of the diaspora community.
